8th Annual Archbishop’s
High School Art Exhibit
This year’s theme, Shout for Joy, is depicted in the students’ artwork and in their reflections. After the challenges of last year, this theme, “Shout for Joy!” (Psalm100:1) invited students to celebrate God’s presence in their lives and to use their creative talent to proclaim His good news. The youthful excitement of encountering the Gospels in their lives is evident in each of the works that are on display.
Judging was completed by Fr. Gerard Alba, Fr. Anthony Saiki, Mrs. Julie Flanagan and Mr. Dan Himmelberg. Mrs. Julie Flanagan also led an interactive art activity during the awards reception entitled An Artful Prayer in Copper and Flame. Mrs. Flanagan then demonstrated with a sheet of copper, a flame, a patient and prayerful heart, colored pencils and a frame that our artwork shall be a “Shout for Joy” and that all who see it will know the glory of God!
Thank you to our talented students from Bishop Miege High School, Bishop Ward High School, Saint Thomas Aquinas, Maur Hill Mount Academy and Saint James Academy. A sincere thank you to the student’s parents and our Catholic High Schools’ dedicated art faculty.
Thank you to the Catholic Fine Arts Council, Office of Catholic Schools, Savior Pastoral Center and the Board of Directors of the Catholic Foundation of Northeast Kansas that provides the funds for the invitational exhibit and for the student awards.
The art work will be on display from March 4 – April 30 at Savior Pastoral Center in the Art Hallway.
