March Newsletter

The Archbishop's Invitational High School Art Exhibit Awards reception was held on March 4, 2022 at Savior Pastoral Center. Now in its eighth year, this annual opportunity serves as a celebration of the God-given talent of the young people in our schools.

This year's theme, Shout for Joy, is depicted in the students' artwork and in their reflections.  The youthful excitement of encountering the Gospels in their lives is evident in each of the works that are on display.

We are grateful to Allison Carney, Associate Superintendent of Schools, Tim Chik, Director of Savior Pastoral Center and to our four judges ( Fr. Gerard Alba, Fr. Anthony Saiki, Mrs. Julie Flanagan and Mr. Dan Himmelberg) who gave significantly of their time and professional expertise to make this opportunity possible.

Thank you to Bishop Miege High School (Art Intstructor: Michael Long), Bishop Ward High School (Art Instructor: Tammy Paszkiewicz), Maur Hill-Mount Academy (Art Instructor: McKenna Moes), St. James Academy (Art Instructors: Terra Henderson & Sherri Denton), and St. Thomas Aquinas High School (Art Instructors: Anna Johnson & Chelsi Kane) for guiding these budding artists.

The artwork will be on display until April 30 at Savior Pastoral Center in the art hallway. To see additional event photos and the 2022 winners, visit the Catholic Foundation of Northeast Website.

Sisters Poor

The staff of the Catholic Foundation of Northeast Kansas and the Office of Stewardship and Development of the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas were out in the community this week volunteering and becoming more educated about serving the homeless population with the Sisters Poor of Jesus Christ. All of the Chancery offices donated jelly, ham, paper towels, soda and chips for the homeless street ministry. When we unloaded all the donations, Sr. Maria Dolores said, "Praise be to God!" We prepared 100 meals and sorted clothing that was packed up into cars to distribute on the routes in Kansas and Missouri.  We were able to join the brothers and sisters while they distributed the meals, clothing and toiletries to the homeless. It was a very humbling, impactful and rewarding experience for the staff.

We have organized another strong Catholic-centered program with a great speaker lineup for the 12th annual Continuing Education Program.  What a great opportunity to network in person and support the Catholic professional community. Please share these Continuing Education Program marketing materials with your collegues and friends.

Registration is now open for this year's event.  There are also sponsorship opportunities available. All the marketing materials can be found on the website.
