Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth! (Psalm 104:30)

Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth! (Psalm 104:30)

During this Sunday's Pentecost feast, we will hear this Psalm proclaimed. In this time of the pandemic, our prayers for renewal and healing may have a newfound earnestness. And yet we have also experienced in many profound ways how many Spirit-led people are responding courageously and generously to those in need.

"How manifold are your works, O Lord!" the psalm continues. Here at The Catholic Foundation of Northeast Kansas we see the abundant variety of ways that people are being of service, and we "are glad in the Lord."

In this Pentecost edition of The Catholic Foundation's newsletter, we feature scholarship recipients, the St. Thomas More Continuing Education Program and a board member spotlight that all model "different forms of service" in the name of the same Lord.

You, too, are part of this body of Christ, who has been given to drink of one Spirit. We thank God for you, and we are here to support your calling to be generous and faithful. Where is the Holy Spirit leading you to live more faithfully, more ignited and fully alive during this season?

Congratulations Cooper Hall!!Cooper Hall was the recent recipient of thenJohn F. and Mary H. Bichelmeyer Scholarship "The Willie Award”John and Mary Bichelmeyer believed that it is not the pursuit of happiness but the "happiness of pursuit" that gives us our greatest rewards.  They were powerful examples of what wonderful things can happen in the lives of people who always do the best they can with the talents God gives them.  Mr. and Mrs. Bichelmeyer believed that people are never defeated unless they lose the willingness to try and keep trying.  "Willie"- a concept John learned as a young man while working in the meat packing plants of Kansas City- is the spirit of being willing to give your best in everything you do, to make the best of every situation and see the best in every person you meet.  "Willie" is positive leadership by example, every day, at work, at play, at home, in school and in all your actions and in all your relationships.Cooper Hall will be attending St. Thomas Aquinas High School in the fall!!!

One of the easiest and most popular charitable giving tools available is creating a Donor-Advised Fund with the Catholic Foundation Northeast Kansas.

A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) is a simple yet efficient option for donors who want to consolidate their charitable giving and remain actively involved in how their gift is used. A DAF acts like a charitable savings account in which a donor contributes to the fund as frequently as they like and watches as their charitable investment grows tax-free. The donor receives immediate tax benefits and can give to their favorite charities whenever they are ready. You can create a fund with as little as $5,000 and will receive a full charitable deduction for your gifts without having to make direct donations to multiple charities.

A Donor-Advised Fund can also help you offset gains from an asset sale or receipt of large bonuses and windfalls. Funding your Donor-Advised Fund with appreciated assets, like real estate or stock, can provide a tax benefit by saving capital gains taxes that would normally result from the sale of those assets.

When you open a DAF at the Catholic Foundation, you join other faithful leaders who have chosen a simple, flexible, and effective fund that ensures your dollars are invested in accordance with our Catholic values. Talk with your loved ones and professional advisor about the benefits of creating a DAF at the Catholic Foundation.

If you are interested in learning more about how you can create a DAF, contact Jane Schmitt at jschmitt@archkck.org or call at 913-647-3060.

Pope Francis has called for a ‘marathon’ of prayer in the month of May to appeal for divine assistance in bringing about an end to the Covid pandemic. The faithful are asked to pray the Holy Rosary daily for an end to this pandemic. Please join with your brothers and sisters in Christ throughout the world in this daily prayer of intercession and hope to our Blessed Mother.

Archbishop Naumann will be praying the Glorious Mysteries at 6:30 PM on Sunday; May 23, 2021 at Fiorella's Event Center.  Grab your friends, family and prayer team and come out for a night of good conversation, friendship and the Rosary. Additional event details can be found by clicking HERE.
