Building God’s Kingdom Through Service and Love
Deo Gratias Award – 2024 / Marty and Beth Krebs
“Discipleship can take its form in many ways.
In my office hangs an image of “The Calling of Matthew” (signed personally by Msgr. Tom Tank) where Jesus found the tax collector sitting at his customs post. Upon hearing the words “Follow Me”, Matthew got up and did so without hesitation.
This image serves as a reminder for our office staff to encourage our clients each day to seek ways to live out our call to not only Discipleship, but Stewardship as well.
At the Krebs Wealth Management Group, we have many choices available to assist our clients in making their tithe and charitable donations in the Donor Advised Fund space. We have selected to utilize the CFNEK Donor Advised Fund because it supports ARCHKCK and thus, helps further the Mission of Jesus. The CFNEK Donor Advised Fund is competitively priced, the website is very user-friendly and the people are amazing to work with.”
A Disciple’s Response
The Second Vatican Council points out that, through work, we build up not only our world but the Kingdom of God, already present among us. Marty and Beth Krebs are doing the work the we are called to do through our baptism. Their dedication to serving both their parish and the broader community reflects a deep commitment to living out their faith. Since joining Ascension Parish in 1996, they have enriched the lives of many through their involvement in various ministries and initiatives.
A Family Committed to Faith
Marty and Beth have four adult children: Michael, Joe and Kelly who reside in Kansas City and Mary Kate who currently lives in Scottsdale, Arizona. While being a shining light of Christ to their children, they have also brought the light of Christ to
their community.
When asked about being honored with the Deo Gratias Award, Marty and Beth responded, “God has truly blessed us in many amazing ways, as followers of Christ, we are stewards of our lives. We are accountable for how well we live and how we use our blessings, resources and gifts in the service of others. There is no shortage of people or places that need our help. Being faithful and generous in small concrete ways has transformed both of our hearts. God always multiples our efforts when they are done for love of Him and others.”
Marty’s Leadership
Marty, a former board member of the Catholic Foundation of Northeast Kansas, serves the Church and his community in countless ways. He has served on numerous boards and committees including Board Chair of the Ignatian Spirituality Center of Kansas City, St. James Academy and the Ascension Parish Stewardship Committee. Additionally, Marty was co-chair of the initial capital campaign for Ascension Catholic School and started the parish’s first fundraising event currently known as “Celebrate Ascension.”
Beth’s Compassionate Service
Beth is also very active in spreading the faith and serving the community through accompaniment. Beth serves as a Catholic Spiritual Mentor through the Holy Family School of Faith helping others on their journey to holiness. Beth also ministers to the most vulnerable as a Hospice Volunteer for the past 10 years offering support and respite for patients and families facing a life-limiting illness.
Together in Stewardship
Together, Marty and Beth’s mentorship in programs like Christ Renews His Parish and their contributions to the Marriage and Family Life ministry have positively impacted countless families. Their work in developing resources for newly married couples and Natural Family Planning shows their desire to strengthen families and foster a culture of life.
Their heartfelt response to receiving the Deo Gratias Award reminds us all of the transformative power of living generously and faithfully. They exemplify how each of us can answer God’s call to serve, creating a ripple effect of love and support within the community. Thank you, Marty and Beth, for your unwavering dedication and inspiring example of stewardship!
