Charitable Giving Strategies

Donating appreciated stock to fund a Donor Advised Fund offers a powerful way to maximize your charitable impact while optimizing your tax benefits. By giving appreciated stock, you avoid paying capital gains tax on the increased value, allowing you to contribute more to your favorite charities. Additionally, you can claim a charitable deduction for the full market value of the stock, reducing your taxable income. This approach not only enhances your philanthropic efforts but also supports more strategic financial planning. Learn more at www.cfnek.org/stock-gift.

The Catholic Foundation of Northeast Kansas (CFNEK) extends its heartfelt thanks to Fr. Barry Clayton for graciously inviting us to present an educational workshop on Wills & Trusts on August 14, 2024. Held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church following the Vigil Mass for the Feast of the Assumption, the workshop was a success, attracting 18 parishioners from Sacred Heart, Our Lady of Lourdes, and St. Philip Neri parishes.

The workshop was led by Jon Stanfield, a partner with the law firm of Rees, Kincaid & Stanfield. With his expertise in estate planning and trust administration, Jon provided valuable guidance, helping attendees plan for the future with confidence and peace of mind. CFNEK is committed to collaborating with professional advisors like Mr. Stanfield to bring educational opportunities to parishes and parishioners throughout the Archdiocese.

CFNEK serves as a vital resource for education, support, and training, ensuring the continued mission of parishes and organizations across the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas. By partnering with pastors, parishes, and professional advisors, CFNEK hosts workshops on estate planning, smarter charitable giving strategies, and other important topics. These initiatives empower parishioners to maximize their giving while reducing tax burdens, ultimately strengthening the parishes, schools, and ministries across our Archdiocese.

For more information on how CFNEK can assist you in supporting your parish, school, or ministry while mitigating taxes, please visit cfnek.org or contact us at 913-647-3062. You can also check on upcoming educational workshops in your area at cfnek.org

In July, the Catholic Foundation of Northeast Kansas hosted a Quarterly Investment Webinar for the first time. The webinar gave fund holders a review of our investment portfolios. Fund holders were also given the opportunity to ask questions of our investment managers. We will continue to host these webinars once a quarter. Details on registering for next quarter’s webinar will be shared soon!
