St. Matthew Parish
Estate Planning Workshop
On November 4, St. Matthew Parish in Topeka hosted an Estate Planning 101 workshop with local estate attorney Vince Cox, of Cavanaugh, Biggs, and Lemon P.A. In his presentation, Vince discussed best practices when establishing a will or trust and ways to avoid probate. Tax Reducing Strategies
On November 20th, Annunciation Catholic Church in Baldwin City hosted a highly informative workshop titled "Tax-Reducing Strategies for Pre and Post-Retirees." The session was led by Bill Eckert, an Accredited Estate Planner, Charitable Advisor in Philanthropy, and Senior Financial Advisor at Renaissance Financial.
Bill's presentation covered essential tax-reduction strategies, including methods for selling highly appreciated assets to minimize capital gains taxes, protecting IRAs from double taxation, and potential ways to significantly increase retirement income. His expert insights provided valuable guidance for attendees looking to optimize their financial planning.

As a parish or school collaborating with us in cultivating planned gifts for your mission and ministries, we hope this toolkit will provide some basic promotional materials for you to use in promoting planned giving awareness. QUARTERLY PROMOTIONAL TIP:
To help promote giving to your parish through IRA distribution giving, we suggest:
1. Targeted Outreach: Send an email or note to parishioners aged 70+ in your database sharing brief info on IRA distribution giving. Customize your own messaging or simply use one of the bulletin blurb suggestions attached to this Promo Pack. Make sure to include a contact person for more information.
2. Include in Giving Options: Include “Gift from your IRA” as a giving option on your webpage with a brief line or two underneath it on IRA distribution giving. Again, we suggest re-using text or lines from our ‘Bulletin/Social Media’ blurbs. Nearby or underneath this, embed a link to CFNEK’s IRA Charitable Rollover page, and/or the quarterly Ad included in this Toolkit.
